Eine neue Jobausschreibung, die auf der Apple Webseite zu finden ist, könnte darauf anspielen, dass in der nächsten iPhone Generation der Wi-Fi Standard 802.11n zum Einsatz kommt. Es wird nämlich ein Softwareentwickler gesucht, der spezialisiert für Wi-Fi Protokolle ist und dann mit dem iPhone-Team zusammenarbeiten soll.
Auch im neusten iPod touch (3rd gen) ist bereits ein Broadcom BCM4329 Chip zu finden, welcher kompatibel mit dem 802.11n ist. Jedoch ist dieser Modus nicht aktiviert und somit steht nur der 802.11g zur Verfügung.
